Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People (CYP-L5)

This qualification is designed for qualified counsellors to acquire and practice the specialist knowledge, skills and competences to work effectively with children and young people aged 11-18. The course is entirely tutor assessed through group work, observations, assignments and projects. A wide spectrum of learning styles are catered for. The qualification will enable candidates to work as counsellors with this age group in a range of job and career opportunities, which include:

Kali Turabi is the core tutor on the Level 5 working with Children and Young People. She brings her extensive experience working in various mental health settings. She has worked with children and young people as an Art Psychotherapist in mainstream and special educational needs schools. She also facilitates Sand Play workshops.

  • A counsellor employed by a School or College

  • A counsellor in an agency or organisation which specialise in counselling children and young people

  • A private counsellor working for an external organisation such as a school, youth club, wellness/mental health setting

  • An independent practitioner wishing to extend their work to cover this age range

  • A youth worker in the community

  • An outreach worker with adolescents/teenagers
